I had to switch from nvidia to nv a= nd from i386 to amd64. I use KOI8-R/KOI8-U locale (as was standard for Russian= and Ukrainian when I switched from MS-DOS to FreeBSD) instead of UTF-8. editors= /aee doesn't support Unicode, and to distinguish text files from binary files for migration to Unicode is quite non-trivial and error-prone. VT requires Unic= ode locale. I use 11 virtual SC consoles for everything text, including email (mail/mutt). You want to move everything into X, I don't.
