Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Sender: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG I just finally got rid of Linux once and for all and installed FreeBSD. I had been waiting to get another hardrive for the installation but I got too imaptient and I went ahead and installed in on a 600 meg partition. I'm slowly running out of room. :( Although, it was a very smooth installation. :) It was much smoother than when I tried installing FreeBSD 2.2.2, which made me quite happy. :) Anyways, the point of my email is because when I try to IRC I can't connect to most of the servers because they complain that I'm not running identd. Okay, so I went into inetd.conf to figure out what the deal was. I found that identd was commented out, so then I uncommented it and then I killed -HUP the inetd. I got some complaints in /var/messages about identd not being there. I took at look at the inetd.conf file again to see where identd is supposed to be - /usr/local/sbin/identd. Okay, the thing of it is that it's not there. Is identd installed with a new installation? Is it a package I have to add? If so, where do I find that package and what is the package name of identd to install?
