There is a company (Konica?) in Japan who does a 35mm slide scanner
which interfaces quite nicely with FreeBSD. When I was in Tokyo, I
was shown a Toshiba libretto running FreeBSD and the control software
for it (which I believe used Tk for the interface) by Konica's
representative. A surprisingly freebsd-friendly company for a change! :)

Wish I could remember the make and model of the film scanner, but
perhaps some of our japanese members can comment on it. There were a
number of us admiring this at a dinner I went to and hopefully
somebody's memory is better than mine (not difficult) ;-)
