Simply disable the splash screen by invoking Netbeans from the command line with "--nosplash". To make this change system-wide, edit "/usr/local/netbeans-7.4/etc/netbeans.conf" and add "--nosplash" to netbeans_default_options. Thanks, Kevin Zheng
