Hi Chris,

I found that this was due to a second attempt to lock the the port. The
config script don't find GD for me, so I had to patch the include/config.h
after configure. I also had problems with the CFLAGS and LDFLAGS that had to
be declared outside the make.

I have attached the patch for you.

Cheers,
	GLZ

Subject: Problems with Freebsd3.3 -stable and NUT 0.42.0

Hello,

I am trying to compile NUT 0.42.0 for my Freebsd 3.3 stable machine with a
smartups 700. The permissions on my serial device are as follows:

crw-rw---- 1 uucp dialer 28, 128 Oct 25 13:49 /dev/cuaa0

I am configuring NUT with the uid of 66 which is uucp and a gid of 68
which is dialer.

The make and install go fine. After I have configured the etc directory
for ups and I run /usr/local/ups/bin/apcsmart /dev/cuaa0 I get the
following:

Network UPS Tools - APC Smart protocol driver 0.20 (0.42.0)
/dev/cuaa0 is locked by another process

I am going to take a stab and say this is the locking issue with freebsd
and the serial port and this program. I have tried different UID's as
well making a dedicated user for Nut and setting the permissions on the
serial port for this user and I get the same response. Is there a work
around present for this???? If so please let me know. I finally got over
the gd library hurdle and am very interested getting this working on our
servers here. Thanks in advance.

In case the FBSD people are curious the URL for this program is:

http://www.exploits.org/nut/
