After intallworld, installkernel and reboot, the kernel paniced almost immediately without dumping any core file. According to the -stable list archive and kern/45032, reverting sys/i386/i386/machdep.c to 1.385.2.25 seems the only workaround to this problem. I've tried to append a "hw.hasbrokenint12=1" in /boot/loader.conf while using machdep.c:1.385.2.27 but still no luck: Booting [kernel] ... / Fatal trap 12: page fault while in vm86 mode fault virtual address = 0x9fdc8 fault code = user read, page not present instruction pointer = 0xf0000:0xc2df code segment = base 0x20000, limit 0x50033, type 0x0 DPL 0, pres 0, def 320, gran 0 ... processor eflags = interrupt enabled, resume, vm86, IOPL=0 ... panic: page fault Uptime: 0s Currently this production machine is running binaries built with 4.7-STABLE source cvsupped on Nov-24-2002 CST and machdep.c:1.385.2.25 very smoothly. I've tried 1.385.2.26 and 1.385.2.27(w/ or w/o hw.hasbrokenint12=1 in /boot/loader.conf). None of them worked. FYI(dmesg.boot): Copyright (c) 1992-2002 The FreeBSD Project.
