-stable is not the same as the CD. It includes the ongoing bug fixes (but NOT
a lot of the new trial features. They are in -current)

If you want to upgrade, particularly if you already have the CD, I suggest
that you consider the CTM update route. Look at
ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/FreeBSD-stable/ctm

Get the README file. It is a supplement to the ctm documentation about
-current. 

If you already have the CD, get the latest file that ends in C.gz
If you don't have the CD, get the latest file that ends in A.gz
Also get all files with greater numbers that do not have the A or C
designation.
