Historically, Linux has been bad about maintaining binary
compatibility for teh fringes of its ABI. When I released the binary
only ObjectBuilder, it was good for about 3 months before the ABI
changed enough so that it couldn't run.... And they didn't bump the
major rev to reflect this breakage (they were using the C++ streams
for stdio, which left C++ mangled names exposed to all application
programs :-(.

BTW, is it possible to have multiple versions of the linux libraries
installed? I've recently given some thought to seeing if I could get
ObjectBuilder running again...
