Yes, I didn't specify.. Amancio hacked up svgalib enough to allocate a virtual 
terminal, and thats about all it needs to do, because the 3dfx card switches 
out your 2d card.

It doesn't actually allow you to draw anything to the display.

The Voxware drive supports GUS DMA I thought..?
