It is considered unwise to have cron job each night, unless you:
a) are cvsup mirror
b) do src/ tree builds each day (sounds masochistic)
c) also reboot after each build :)
d) really wish to hog cvsup server resources (it's really i/o intensive
on serveris-side)

If you want to track changes, you can read cvs commitlogs, use webcvs,
read UPDATING file, stable@ mailing list.
