make -j
generic kernel

but it won't full load CPUs and RAM

copy GENERIC to 10 other files, do config, and then
make depend;make -j in every directory.

if any kernel won't build - machine is not OK.

while doing this you may do

dd if=/dev/yourdisk of=/dev/null bs=1m
in parallel from each of your disk to check if disk subsystem works fine 
under load
