Doh! BTW - the README that lists other servers was not with my 2.1 distribution (at least not in /usr/share/examples/sup where it should be), I had to root it out ftp.freebsd.org -- that file file ought to delineate that the hosts should be changed in the sup to use something other than sup.freebsd.org (which ruthlessly timed out on me over and over again).
