So, `ls | less` would allow you to scroll around in the results of ls using a utility called "less" As for rxvt, you could start it with some switches such as `rxvt -sb -sr -sl 200`. See man rxvt to see what each of these switches does, but this command should suit your needs (possibly more) for rxvt.
