Uhm.... if it's an official CD, you can boot right off of it. Thats what I do. -- Jonathan -- Jonathan M. Slivko <jslivko@blinx.net> Blinx Networks, Inc. http://www.blinx.net/ "Microsoft, is that some kind of toilet paper?" -----Original Message----- From: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG [mailto:owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG]On Behalf Of Clarence Brown Sent: Monday, August 13, 2001 2:22 PM To: freebsd-questions@freebsd.org Subject: install from CD ... Help! I'm using the 4.3 CD's I received in the mail, and 2 freshly formatted 1.4 meg floppies. Here's a copy/paste of the command and return: C:\>d:\tools\fdimage d:\floppies\kern.flp a: d:\floppies\kern.flp - File is too big Here's the state of the floppy: C:\>chkdsk a: Volume Serial Number is 18F3-152E 1,457,664 bytes total disk space 1,457,664 bytes available on disk 512 bytes in each allocation unit 2,847 total allocation units on disk 2,847 available allocation units on disk 655,360 total bytes memory 573,856 bytes free So, I'm using the right tool, fdimage.exe from the CD, the right image, d:\floppies\kern.flp, but it still won't fit. What gives? Is there a problem with the distribution? I did search the archives, but the closest just talked about not downloading in binary mode. However I'm not downloading, I'm getting it off the CD. I also tried copying fdimage.exe, kern.flp and mfsroot.flp to the same temp directory on drive C: and running fdimage from there without paths, but I get the same results. Cla.
