If you are saying that you should be posting long, overly complex solutions to simple problems, and not have a more experienced user offer a simpler, alternative suggestion, that's just plain silly. One of the initial objections to the formation of this list was that it had the potential to devolve into a "blind leading the blind" problem. I am all for having new users share their insights, and I encourage others to do so. But part of learning is to be open to new ways of doing things, so please don't be surprised if someone else (whether they be a more or less experienced user than you are) has a better and/or different solution to the same problem. That's part of how unix works.
