Hello, I'm a newbie, and was wondering if I could be sent an example of how to add a package. For example the apache-1.3.3.tgz package. FreeBSD cheetah.mynet.com 2.2.8-RELEASE FreeBSD 2.2.8-RELEASE #0: Sat Dec 5 23 :30:28 PST 1998 root@cheetah.mynet.com:/usr/src/sys/compile/MARKUS i386 I've tried the following according to the man page. I am logged in as root as well. I don't want to use the /stand/sysinstall utility. I'd rather learn how to do it all manually. cheetah# install usage: install [-CcDps] [-f flags] [-g group] [-m mode] [-o owner] file1 file2 install [-CcDps] [-f flags] [-g group] [-m mode] [-o owner] file1 ... fileN directory install -d [-g group] [-m mode] [-o owner] directory ... cheetah# make install make: don't know how to make install. Stop cheetah# ls apache-1.3.3.tgz cheetah# install apache-1.3.3.tgz usage: install [-CcDps] [-f flags] [-g group] [-m mode] [-o owner] file1 file2 install [-CcDps] [-f flags] [-g group] [-m mode] [-o owner] file1 ... fileN directory install -d [-g group] [-m mode] [-o owner] directory ... cheetah# Thank You -- ------------------------------------------------------------- Mark Ennis | mennis@ucsd.edu | marke@sparc.sandiegoca.ncr.com | ------------------------------------------------------------- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
