Subversion has no real knowledge of a 'HEAD' or 'master' branch. To svn all branches are the same. In the url svn://.....freebsd.org/base/head 'head' is just an arbitrary label we happen to use. -rHEAD means the 'HEAD revision of whatever branch we happen to be on'.
