Obsolete & non international definition of a billion !
The Americans have long considered 10^9 as 1 billion, & though the British
once considered 10^12 as a billion, they too went over to 10^9 as a billion,
several decades ago.  Scientific notation EG: 2.0 * 10^12 avoids confusion.
