I think I mentioned this before, but if you customized your kernel (like
most of us do), then you have to do this.  But if you're perfectly happy
with GENERIC, bloated as it is, then you can skip it.  I have to because
GENERIC doesn't support everything I have and it would play hell with the
printing since I have lpt0 and lpt1 swapped.
