Hello, I have a Sony CD-RW CRX120E v1.0j device and it works pretty well under Linux, and I found on web that if works pretty well on NetBSD and OpenBSD, but I really want to use FreeBSD one way or other, and I can't get it work. When this device is connected to the IDE interface, no matter in what position/combination with other devices, be it alone, FreeBSD simply does not boot, and not even the generic installation kernel which brings up the text-mode setup user interface works. This is really frustrating and it happens to any 4.x and 5.x. I've heard others had it working on 3.x series with the old driver but I got no replies. Setting: set hw.ata.atapi_dma=1 brings up the following error: acd0: TOSHIBA DVD_ROM etc .. acd1: REQUEST SENSE - command timeout ... aborting ata1: resetting devices.. Done acd1: Read data overrun 18/0 and further it locks like this. The current IDE map is: Primary Master: IBM DeskStart HDD... Primary Slave: none Secondary Master: SONY CRX CDRW (asta e) Secondary Slave: TOSHIBA DVD-ROM ... but I guess this is a problem on device communication level. Could you please help me about this it is really frustrating for over 1 year. I was hoping new releases would fix this problem, but it seems it has been skipped. Thanks and Best Regards, Alin-Adrian Anton.
