I was wondering why the port which is now default is version 5.24-RC4 instead of 5.24.0? Perl 5.24.0 was released on 2016-05-09 (May 9th). Even if RC4 and 5.24.0 have no code differences besides the versioning, I fail to understand why you would not update the perl 5.24 port to use the final release before making it the default perl.
