Precisely. Having two separate sound drivers is simply confusing and increases the amount of cruft in the tree. Furthermore, if those who have complained so far would put even a tenth of the amount of effort into helping Luigi add MIDI and FM support to the new driver, we wouldn't even be having this little conversation. I hear a lot of counter-arguments about ability and time raised whenever I make that suggestion as well, but that's just bollocks. If someone is truly motivated and inclined then they'll make the time and they'll learn whatever has to be learned in order to make it happen. This isn't rocket science, it's just a sound driver, and I know that many people here have the ability to accomplish such things or they probably wouldn't even be in this industry. Whether they make it an actual priority or not, however, depends on how strongly they're pushed and they can consider my first shot across the bow of the old sound code to be the first strong nudge in that direction. The nudges will get stronger as soon as 3.0 is out the door. :-) - Jordan To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-multimedia" in the body of the message
