Because of certain differences, it cannot be used wholesale as a replacement for csh. I'm all for tcsh being in /bin, but I don't think that it's a good idea to replace the industry-standard csh with tcsh as unexpected problems can occur when a csh script expecting csh behaviour ends up breaking due to the subtle differences between csh and tcsh... It's kinda late in the process to be complaining about this, but I just noticed this myself... To complete your sentance: "..., but it's not a drop-in replacement for csh."
