	I realized that this has already been backed out, but I did want
to mention another case where trying to config all interfaces
automatically is bad. Namely with DHCP I want to control precisely which
interfaces are confgured when and how, which would be very difficult with
this approach.

	The "auto" option is an excellent compromise, and I agree with the
previous poster who said that the idea is very clever in conception. :)
