I have a subdir struct with 300 dirs on the first level, total 24.5G, 6000 files. Getting the directory listing in windows explorer over a 100Mbit link takes about 4 seconds. Can this be sped up? I know it could even be the GUI of windows explorer, but am wondering if it's not a caching thing on the freebsd samba server. Using 4.5-stable, just cvs-ed & worldbuild & kernbuild.
