The following reply was made to PR sparc64/71729; it has been noted by GNATS. From: "Doug Haigh" <dhaigh@mail.com> To: freebsd-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org Cc: Subject: Re: sparc64/71729: printf in kernel thread causes panic on SPARC Date: Fri, 17 Sep 2004 08:48:54 -0500 This problem only occurs on SMP machines after the second processor is started. It is not a problem on UP machines or on SMP machines that 'printf' in a kernel thread before the second CPU is started. Is "openfirmware" SMP capable? Can "openfirmware" be executed on CPUs other than CPU #0? This kills any SMP debugging for me because I use printf's frequently in a multi-threaded environment. cd -- ___________________________________________________________ Sign-up for Ads Free at Mail.com http://promo.mail.com/adsfreejump.htm
