The vt100 may be the most common terminal type in use, but I still see Z-19's and various WYSE terminals around. You also have to remember that the SCO console emulation that FreeBSD uses cannot be considered vt100 compatible. You would make the people who use these terminal types to dial into your system a bit irritated if you forced a vt100 emulation on them. Besides, the 'tset' in the shell startup file will work no matter what is in the 3rd field in the /etc/ttys line contains. You just need to set each user up with: eval `tset -s -r -m network:$TERM -m cons25:cons25 -m :?vt100` on a out of the box FreeBSD system...
