The perl in -current is 5.6.0. The problem is that the Perl upgrades > are quite hard to do and get right. My memory was that somebody signed up to do this update and take over from Mark Murray, but it appears that nothing came of it (or my memory is faulty, which is also distinctly likely). If we dont have any takers, I'll take a shot at it soon.
