dmesg output after running startx and getting blank screen

Occasionally when trying to start X11, just using the startx command for th=
is,
I am left with just a blank screen rather than X11 and my window manager
starting. Also periodically when the display server is running the screen w=
ill
blank out and my monitor acts like it is not receiving any signal almost as=
 if
the display server crashed.

FreeBSD version: 12.0-RELEASE-p3
xf86-video-ati version: 18.1.0,1
xorg-server: 1.18.4_11,1

Details on my graphics card from pciconf:

vgapci0@pci0:10:0:0:    class=3D0x030000 card=3D0x24601462 chip=3D0x6719100=
2 rev=3D0x00
hdr=3D0x00
    vendor =3D 'Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI]'
    device =3D 'Cayman PRO [Radeon HD 6950]'
    class      =3D display
    subclass   =3D VGA

I am loading the kernel module at boot with the following in my /etc/rc.conf
'kld_list=3D"/boot/modules/radeonkms.ko"'

Other than font and keyboard settings I'm letting xorg autodetect everythin=
g at
run time.
