The missing files/symlinks (pdflatex among them) are listed in pkg-plist of=
=20
teTeX-base, since teTeX-base *should* install them (and apparently does for=
=20
some people, does not for others), so if you try to build a package and the=
=20
port really does not install some of the files listed in there, pkg_create=
=20
will complain.=20

In other words, the reported problem is caused by the same bug you're getti=
ng=20
bit by, just the consequence is different.
