A replacement for cvsup called csup is in the base system in 6.x. =20 > The last time a full install was preferred was going from > the 5.x release to 6.x, I believe, due to differences in GCC 3.x > and GCC 4.x. So, it rarely happens. Version 6.x still uses gcc 3.4 as the system compiler. It is 7.x that uses gcc 4.2. I've performed a source upgrade from 6 to 7 without problems. I did however remove all ports and reinstalled them from scratch, to clean out all the ports cruft. There is also some interesting advice about cleaning up your system after a source upgrade in /usr/scr/Makefile.
