--fXStkuK2IQBfcDe+ Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline The second RC build of the 8.4-RELEASE release cycle is now available on the FTP servers for the amd64, i386, and pc98 architectures. The SHA256/MD5 sums are tacked on to the bottom of this message. The ISO images and, for architectures that support it, the memory stick images are available here: ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/ISO-IMAGES/8.4/ (or any of the FreeBSD mirror sites). If you notice problems you can report them through the normal GNATS PR system or here on the -stable mailing list. If you would like to use SVN to do a source based update of an existing system use "releng/8.4". If you would like to use csup/cvsup mechanisms instead the branch tag to use is "RELENG_8_4". Please be aware that cvsup and CVS are both deprecated, and while upgrades using CVS or cvsup may work now they will not be supported for security updates through the life of 8.4. Changes between -RC1 and -RC2 include: - Fix a UDP-related crash triggered by high-load UDP services - Fix a ZFS-related hang causing systems to hang at "All buffers synced", forcing a hard-reset The freebsd-update(8) utility supports binary upgrades of i386 and amd64 systems running earlier FreeBSD releases. Systems running earlier FreeBSD releases can upgrade as follows: # freebsd-update upgrade -r 8.4-RC2 During this process, FreeBSD Update may ask the user to help by merging some configuration files or by confirming that the automatically performed merging was done correctly. # freebsd-update install The system must be rebooted with the newly installed kernel before continuing. # shutdown -r now After rebooting, freebsd-update needs to be run again to install the new userland components: # freebsd-update install It is recommended to rebuild and install all applications if possible, especially if upgrading from an earlier FreeBSD release, for example, FreeBSD 7.x. Alternatively, the user can install misc/compat7x and other compatibility libraries, afterwards the system must be rebooted into the new userland: # shutdown -r now Finally, after rebooting, freebsd-update needs to be run again to remove stale files: # freebsd-update install Checksums: 8.4-RC2 amd64: SHA256 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-amd64-bootonly.iso) = cac7071f2f811805ae917d2533f5ebf251fc9378d75821e9c47389e29b989c43 SHA256 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-amd64-disc1.iso) = bff1c351397a24b244a8c9e5bfc5264b012d61c0799a441fc0c5b82aa263877e SHA256 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-amd64-disc2.iso) = 5d306092115551a090fe505a51b71e4fa065271d78e02ea7f55a4cc0b31c7809 SHA256 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-amd64-disc3.iso) = b6c154c4f226cfd7d46e2e1492ce62ec4343ab6d09bb96a6b4f4aa8dd20cd2dd SHA256 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-amd64-dvd1.iso) = c3216a36bca571500eb62a317a5ee114fe4f85418fa624efca93bf9fde53f2d9 SHA256 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-amd64-livefs.iso) = 746668b1a751a6006c8840a71656dc7a01cac524b4a023e65615cf53f561d7c0 SHA256 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-amd64-memstick.img) = c11dabf314c146213a8dca5b37ea6e5a67b32734d2a4958d684e27205fdc7e6a MD5 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-amd64-bootonly.iso) = 84b4f256fec8268adcc9b02dc2b571bb MD5 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-amd64-disc1.iso) = 35d6cd6b8e851e0f2bc309a165479e0f MD5 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-amd64-disc2.iso) = 245d2a1c9975b72a0e6a0b6e2c9cbbce MD5 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-amd64-disc3.iso) = b31262caee51ca7c519d47b60c741be1 MD5 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-amd64-dvd1.iso) = b5fb4eb6ba31725db92cd2cf66b6d0c2 MD5 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-amd64-livefs.iso) = e298bc93940658bfbc0f7dc9e8779598 MD5 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-amd64-memstick.img) = a55541a2d5860e25c8c2c3fbf86349c7 8.4-RC2 i386: SHA256 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-i386-bootonly.iso) = 75fa10c5f7cb2201e9cc38c399ec69ba85380802a29cc2bd2311941e5a34d20f SHA256 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-i386-disc1.iso) = 87cf86af227fa8069a84ff875fce9b9c0453daf867c29a5b413ed1fab67f6552 SHA256 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-i386-disc2.iso) = aad08e64146e62443066b534101941464b87b6a5661c5fa4d114f8554b1b5b40 SHA256 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-i386-disc3.iso) = ce6a4b84e2f6a9fda1eb79c0ceaab47cad49a0d07b7a718b48a4f1700642cd8d SHA256 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-i386-dvd1.iso) = d2c64cf9bb292146a218af6c09195d7a60c2f8ec7f667bf6de5fbf98c37cfac8 SHA256 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-i386-livefs.iso) = 4c2ceb0513a77b1dc22c2ea377e46f309d51ef0e51e21546364808a402b41e80 SHA256 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-i386-memstick.img) = 41861d8965a4f0a3f417951813f2d6b9baefbdba5e8b73e5418b551bb2a8f75a MD5 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-i386-bootonly.iso) = bd3adfcb0b31bc91309b7e74cd387d62 MD5 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-i386-disc1.iso) = 86c6d2a433be5cf8a71a80a388d10d3b MD5 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-i386-disc2.iso) = bd683e7266d2876858f9064745eeb5bc MD5 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-i386-disc3.iso) = 50d1345d04a53329e86733133f15661d MD5 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-i386-dvd1.iso) = 2e8176e4cca71db3fdee7a27e11500fc MD5 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-i386-livefs.iso) = a11dc2cf7d702f895918c546280493ca MD5 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-i386-memstick.img) = 3e4ebc3002fe34a640bb0ee8320ed59a 8.4-RC2 pc98: SHA256 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-pc98-bootonly.iso) = 44702b4390cb254206596635cc35583450e066d8af9fbf0f2b8f52fc83359d3e SHA256 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-pc98-disc1.iso) = b42f9dbc6017f06c109fbbbcd177544942fe1df43b32413004a0d5eff9bfbbe5 SHA256 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-pc98-livefs.iso) = 97b35ee7fbb4e0b1a9241bd75f75eaff69f975cf5b699711db4ba793e0f6bb34 MD5 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-pc98-bootonly.iso) = 8a7268ad16a1b400a37b2c6230f7a58f MD5 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-pc98-disc1.iso) = 424e9b753444546f9158debe362778f7 MD5 (FreeBSD-8.4-RC2-pc98-livefs.iso) = 0031a9d0f702cc5a1d27707c1b3eb522 Glen --fXStkuK2IQBfcDe+ Content-Type: application/pgp-signature -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.19 (FreeBSD) iQEcBAEBCAAGBQJRdUrtAAoJEFJPDDeguUajzXYH/1AurzcrbjV4YErLB2UHFaOy yK5rRSTsHYNzGGXJRktaHO4H8d2d2tuQSA9/TS8YhD+yPdEwtF6Nj+twAt3uW2E5 ApIU4UuildzYbUG3sboQkRtCMrTA20uyEf3uucNA6o1QNLqOt1knBuCi8epx3c4+ jKSh3pI1ZrlD4S8wKXl+RrRQ8G8qANlMppMj4DXAopKaiuspSSH6s7Zs/WQfjy6Q 6pprg+8p6I4PMgdtabYy+ri3MpDZu8JaQ9hA8yXoKyVqGy6nn1t5N3jonbq+5H3E JNc1EQZYggwPE/yzBT4w+It86gjz1or+XNNGGXTRBsTUA6Zm40XWzycxdvmaAU0= =APv2 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --fXStkuK2IQBfcDe+--
