The following reply was made to PR ports/48311; it has been noted by GNATS. From: "J.D." <jimd@siu.edu> To: freebsd-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org, jimd@siu.edu Cc: Subject: Re: ports/48311: compile of librsvg2 fails with "bad" c++ code Date: Sun, 16 Feb 2003 05:08:13 +0000 I found the solution to my problem: not replacing libart_lpgl, but removing libart, which strangely enough provides "libart_lgpl.so.5" whereas /usr/ports/graphics/libart_lpgl2 provides "libart_lgpl_2.so.5". I was "removing" 'libart_lgpl2" ('libart_lgpl_2') as its port and directory name was inherently related to in the suggested resolution of removing "the old libart_lgpl", but unknowingly leaving "libart" ('libart_lgpl') in place. Deleting the "libart-2.3.3" port took care of librsvg2's compile problems, so this PR can be closed. HOWEVER, I would like to suggest that "libart" (2.3.3) be renamed to "libart_lgpl" so it will conform to the name of the libary it installs, and would indicate a older version of "libart_lgpl_2". There would be less, possibly, confusion over the NAME of the port/package and the NAME of the libraries/files installed, and it would be easier to differentiate between it and the "libart_lgpl2" port/package.
