Check the archives, there was a big flap about READ_BIG timeouts with certain CD drives, and the fix was to tweak something in the acd code. The problem stems from certain drives being broken and the code not being as tolerant as it used to be (which is good, IMO, it forces people to use better hardware and forces makers to make better hardware).
