This question I have involves a repeated mail message I get every time I log on as root. Here is the message: ----------------- From: daemon Date: 9/10/97 X-vi-recover_file: MYKERNEL X-vi-recover-path: /var/tmp/vi.recover/vi.000155 Reply-to: Root From: Root(Nvi Recovery program) To: Root Subject: Nvi saved the file MYKERNEL Precedence: bulk On Sun May 18 23:47:47 1997, the user root was editing a file named MYKERNEL on the machine myname.my.domain, when it was saved for recovery. You can recover most, it not all, of the changes to this file using the -r option to v1: vi -r MYKERNEL --------------------- Every time, no matter what I did before, when I log on as root I get this message. I keep deleting it but that does nothing. What can I do to stop this message? I don't want to recover the changes to MYKERNEL because I changed it on purpose. Thank you, Brian bef126@psu.edu
