I did install with WITH_GIMP=yes gimp-devel was already installed on my system. I think the problem is with the xsane port. It has gimp1 as a library requirement. The Makefiles find the shared lib that gimp-devel installed, so gimp1 doesn't get installed. Configure then bonks on the tests for gimp-config and the headers. I'll probably just back out to gimp1.
