I'm not sure if you're agreeing with me or the other side. The "optional" keyword is definitely a new knob. And I suppose it's a tradition that nobody really documents /etc/rc. Of course, there's nothing to stop you reading it. I suppose I could point out a bit of how things get started in the book. Greg
