Hm, I'm getting something almost funny on my X40 with em card. When I unplug the cable, dhclient does not die on it's own. So I added the LINK_DOWN event to the devd.conf, as the OP did. And it works quite nice, indeed. Except that if the dhclient isn't running, I see no LINK_UP events. If I start the dhclient by hand, I get: Feb 1 18:49:54 pimpus kernel: em0: link state changed to UP And I get LINK_DOWN/UP when dhclient is running (just did some test with those events in devd.conf configured with action simply writing UP/DOWN to the syslog). em0: <Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network Connection Version - 3.2.18> port 0x7000-0x703f mem 0xd0200000-0xd021ffff irq 11 at device 1.0 on pci2 em0@pci2:1:0: class=0x020000 card=0x055b1014 chip=0x10778086 rev=0x00 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Intel Corporation' device = '82547EI Gigabit Ethernet Controller (Mobile)' class = network subclass = ethernet [FreeBSD 6.0-STABLE #4: Wed Feb 1 19:51:07 CET 2006] -- Krzysztof Kowalik | () ASCII Ribbon Campaign Computer Center, AGH UST | /\ Support plain text e-mail
