I have an HP dv6000 series notebook with a wireless network device which worked under windows. The notebook had windows when I obtained it. I installed FreeBSD 6.2 and upgraded to -stable. I cannot configure the wireless network or do anything with it. This may be between my ears or it may be a problem in configuration. The kernel is compiled from sys/i386/conf/SMP, with no changes. How do I interact with this device? What else should I look at? # uname -a FreeBSD dv6000.tddhome 6.2-STABLE FreeBSD 6.2-STABLE #0: \ Sat Aug 25 15:34:55 PDT 2007 \ root@dv6000.tddhome:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/SMP i386 After boot -v, I see # desg | grep -i ath ath_rate: version 1.2 <SampleRate bit-rate selection algorithm> ath_hal: 0.9.20.3 (AR5210, AR5211, AR5212, RF5111, RF5112, RF2413, RF5413) # kldstat -v | grep wlan 289 wlan_ccmp 290 wlan_tkip 291 wlan_wep 292 wlan # kldstat -v | grep ath 66 ath_hal 67 ath_rate 68 pci/if_ath 69 cardbus/if_ath # sysctl -a | grep -i hw.ath hw.ath.hal.version: 0.9.20.3 hw.ath.hal.dma_brt: 2 hw.ath.hal.sw_brt: 10 hw.ath.hal.swba_backoff: 0 hw.ath.dwell: 200 hw.ath.calibrate: 30 hw.ath.outdoor: 1 hw.ath.xchanmode: 1 hw.ath.countrycode: 0 hw.ath.regdomain: 0 hw.ath.rxbuf: 40 hw.ath.txbuf: 100 tomdean
