Thanks, Sorry for the delay, It's an Acer Aspire 5741 laptop BTW
(The internal camera in lid, so I might later be better experimenting
with an external camera I can disconnect to ensure a good reset)

I think I have a copy of the MS hard disk the machine shipped with,
maybe there a copy of some file there to be installed into the camera ?
