Hi,

Alright, last Friday I promised to let you guys know what the outcome 
was of the issue where PuTTY wouldn't connect to FreeBSD 5.3.

And the winner is...:

Indeed. By default there's a line:
#PasswordAuthentication no


Changing that in:
PasswordAuthentication yes

And then performing a:
kill -s HUP <sshdpid>

Does the trick!
