Hi, I just tried to use portupgrade on my ports. There seems to be a problem in the interpretation of port version numbers that manifests itself in the tcl84 port. The port has been recently upgraded from 8.4b2 to 8.4.0. pkg_version interprets 8.4b2 < 8.4.0 and thinks I should upgrade, whereas portversion interprets 8.4.0 < 8.4b2 and portupdate asks me if I really want to downgrade. To me it seems that there something should be done and I see two possibilities: either the portversion version number interpretation must be aligned with pkg_version's or the tcl port should use version numbers that are better to compare (too me it is not obvious what should be larger 8.4.0 or 8.4b2). harti -- harti brandt, http://www.fokus.gmd.de/research/cc/cats/employees/hartmut.brandt/private brandt@fokus.gmd.de, brandt@fokus.fhg.de To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-ports" in the body of the message
