I've been watching this list, and taking note of what I've seen, and my procedure is this : I CVSup the latest source from cvsup3.au.FreeBSD.org (I'm in Australia), which seems to run ok, and then I cd /usr/src and make buildworld. I'm yet to get it to build. The box either reboots part-way through, or I see something like this : cc -O -pipe -DFREEBSD_NATIVE -DIN_GCC -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -DPREFIX=\"/usr/obj/usr/src/i386/usr\" -I/usr/obj/usr/src/i386/usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1plus/../cc_tools -I/usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1plus/../cc_tools -I/usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1plus/../../../../contrib/gcc -I/usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1plus/../../../../contrib/gcc/config -I/usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1plus/../../../../contrib/gcc/cp -I. -I/usr/obj/usr/src/i386/usr/include -c /usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1plus/../../../../contrib/gcc/cp/pt.c {standard input}: Assembler messages: {standard input}:3968: Warning: end of file not at end of a line; newline inserted {standard input}:6037: Error: no such 386 instruction: `a' {standard input}:6038: Error: no such 386 instruction: `ddl' *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc/cc1plus. *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/src/gnu/usr.bin/cc. *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/src. *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/src. *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/src. clunker# To make sure there's no bogosity floating around I've done a make clean in /usr/src, but the same error happens. The error moves around (each time I compile it it's different), so do I have bodgey hardware that could cause this, or am I doing something really wrong?
