Indeed. I was just about to sit down and write a long email about the symlink stuff when my brain decided to remember what this thread was about :) The PKGNAME->PORTNAME/VERSION is definitely a good idea, and I'll do whatever I can to help convert things over. My only question is whether we should take this opportunity (since we're going to be touching every single port Makefile) to do some other cruft cleanup... like removing all of the comments at the top.. maybe that's too draconian, but I really don't see the point in having them there.. it's not like they're all over the rest of the tree. > If not, I'll coordinate with mharo (portlint maintainer, who also > seems to have taken upon the task of touching as many Makefiles as > humanely possible) to convert the tree and update associate > documentation/upgrade kits/whatnot. Since this is a big change, I think it's worthy of an announcement saying that things may be a little on the unstable side in -ports land for a while -- it might help to cut down on the number of "Hey! You broke all my ports!" messages... -aDe -- Ade Lovett, Austin, TX. To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-ports" in the body of the message
