Still not having any luck. The rc.conf options you mentioned were not in my rc.conf file at all. I added them in, trying it both ways, with all options set to YES and NO. Dbus-daemon is still using all my cpu. I don't see anything unusual in /var/log/messages, and I don't have an .xsession-errors file.
