Hi David,
   The reason I asked:
# ls -la /usr/ports/samba
ls: /usr/ports/samba: No such file or directory
#=20

As for /etc/make.conf, I've not set anything in there except XFree86=3D3

Please take a look the output from /usr/ports/samba I included above,
and let me know if there is a problem here.
