Hi. I've tried getting a reply to my problem with formatting my HD under freeBSD (stated below), but unfortunately did not succeed with the suggestion offered. I've tried a couple of things since (see way below), and was wondering if any of you might take a looksy to see if there are tell-tale signs ;-) This is a forwarded message From: Allen Pulsifer <pulsifer@mediaone.net> To: rene@xs4all.nl <rene@xs4all.nl> Date: Sunday, December 05, 1999, 21:59:39 Subject: trying to format IDE disk ===8<==============Original message text=============== I've never done this, but you probably need to format the partition (know in unix as a "slice"), not the disk. The partition names go something like wd2s0. /stand/sysinstall includes a menu items to partition and format a disk. > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG > [mailto:owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG]On Behalf Of rene@xs4all.nl > Sent: Sunday, December 05, 1999 1:39 PM > To: questions@FreeBSD.ORG > Subject: trying to format IDE disk > > > Hello questions, > > I'm trying to format this 10G IDE disk I have lying around here > doing nothing...
