[ i am trying to build some systems post the bleeping geom gmirror boot
  mess ]

i find no 2009 snapshots in ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/snapshots

so i break all the rules and read the README.TXT which tells me where to
go (unnecessary, as i am married).  but

ftp://current.FreeBSD.org/pub/FreeBSD just gives me "The server at
current.freebsd.org is taking too long to respond."

clue bat, please.
