FreeBSD alfa.ccrl.sj.nec.com 4.5-RC FreeBSD 4.5-RC #0: Fri Jan 25 11:43:32 PST 2002 hino@alfa.ccrl.sj.nec.com:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC i386
>Description:
As discussed on -stable list, default configured OpenSSH 3.0.1p1 client can not login to default configured 4.5-RC machine. Detailed information is written in:
http://docs.freebsd.org/cgi/getmsg.cgi?fetch=612505+0+archive/2002/freebsd-stable/20020120.freebsd-stable

Note that freshly CVSup-ed -stable still has same problem.
>How-To-Repeat:
Prepare freshly installed 4.5-RC box with a user account who has
valid passwd entry, and has no /etc/opiekeys entry.
From other machine, OpenSSH 3.0.1p1 (or newer) installed, use ssh to login
the 4.5-RC box.

OpenSSH-machine % ssh 4.5-RC-machine [ret]

>Fix:
Many workarounds are posted to -stable. See followups to above
message. Thanks to many..

But, actual source of this problem seems to be shown in my message:
http://docs.freebsd.org/cgi/getmsg.cgi?fetch=690881+0+/usr/local/www/db/text/2002/freebsd-stable/20020120.freebsd-stable
And my sample fix is:
http://docs.freebsd.org/cgi/getmsg.cgi?fetch=766454+0+/usr/local/www/db/text/2002/freebsd-stable/20020120.freebsd-stable
