I guess I barely make it into the "adults only" section here, I have less than 2 weeks experience in being a "Thirty-something" :-) Judging from the people I have met, it seems like FreeBSD is composed of a large fraction of "grown-up" hackers, and that could easily explain the uncommonly strong focus we have on stability and performance.
